I AM writing to you regarding my experience with First Bus.
I work in Bristol but drive my car to Totterdown and walk as the bus fare is so expensive.
However one morning I was late so I got on the 54 bus at Bushy Park. I asked for a single to town (I work in Broad Street) and was amazed at the fare of £2.20, but I needed to get to work.
During the afternoon I went to my bag and looked at the ticket. The ticket was a three-stop ticket which would have taken me to Bristol Bridge for £1. I was unaware First Bus did this ticket and I was never offered it. As the driver had charged £1.20 more I informed First Bus. They were able to pinpoint the driver as his number is on the ticket.
I had not heard anything so I called First Bus to be told they had written to me with the outcome. This letter I have never received.
'After a thorough investigation the depot manager has concluded that it was an honest mistake by the driver'.
I pointed out that if it was an honest mistake First Bus's takings would not tally with tickets sold on that bus/driver.
So either way First Bus has my money or their driver does and I am out of pocket.
I asked for this to be sent back to the depot manager as I was not happy with his assessment of the situation.
That was three weeks ago and again I have not heard anything from them.
I commend First Bus for introducing a £1 three-stop ticket but if drivers are still charging full price then it's either going in the driver's pocket or First bus takings.
