On Sovereignty

Are we sovereign individuals of the Republic of the United States as granted to us by the Law of the Land, the U.S. Constitution? I believe we are, yet the U.S. government seems to believe otherwise. Have the U.S. government and the State governments usurped the power of the people in this great nation and should they be held accountable for their actions as specified in the U.S. Constitution? The founding fathers of this great nation believed in the sovereign individual and the sovereign State.
